CSfC Energy and Climate Team/Citizens Climate Lobby Event-Monday, August 1

Please join us on Monday, August 1 to learn about the Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL), a national group that is promoting fee & dividend legislation. Gary Rucinski, Boston-area coordinator for CCL, will talk about the work of the lobby and answer questions. In late June Gary participated in some of CCL’s recent meetings in Washington, D.C. with members of our congressional delegation. He’ll let us know what they learned.

You may sign up at the CSfC Facebook page or send a note here.

MORE on CCL

Citizen's Climate Lobby is a well organized group working to bring about effective governmental action to address Climate Change.

Citizens Climate Lobby proposes a "Fee and Dividend" program to reduce the anthropogenic Greenhouse Gas footprint. In this program a fee would be assessed on fossil fuels. The fee would start out low -- $15 per ton -- and increase by $10-$15 each year, gradually putting pressure on business to reduce the carbon intensity of goods and services, and making alternative fuels more competititive by raising the price of fossil fuels to better reflect their true costs. 100 percent of the proceeds from the carbon fee would be equally distributed to all US citizens in the form of a monthly dividend check. This dividend would compensate citizens for the increased price of fuel and of goods and services brought about by the fee.

About

Cambridge-Somerville for Change is an all-volunteer community group dedicated to harnessing the grassroots energy and spirit of change inspired by the Obama campaign. Our organizing work includes electoral and issue-based campaigns at the local, state, and national level. Our members have chosen to work on promoting economic fairness, comprehensive health care reform, creating policies that conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, provide for fair and adequate access to public transportation, and promoting in-state tuition for immigrant youth.

This is an organization built by and for you, the community, and we look forward to your participation and feedback. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions about getting involved, please email
