State Representative Carl Sciortino resigned from his seat, representing the 34th Middlesex District, in April, and there are five candidates seeking to replace him.
CSfC is co-sponsoring a candidate forum, in collaboration with Medford for Massachusetts and Progressive Democrats ofSomerville, to help connect candidates and voters. This coalition of progressive community groups has also organized a candidate questionnaire, and we'll be posting the candidate answers.
Carl has agreed to moderate the forum, and will not be endorsing a candidate in the race.
Forum Details:
Sunday, June 29 at 7:00 PM
Room 008
Barnum Hall at Tufts University
163 Packard Ave, Medford
All of the candidates have been invited, including:
The district includes wards 4 and 7 in
Somerville, and wards 4 and 5, and, in Medford, precinct 1
of ward 7 and precinct 2 of ward 8.
The primary will be on Tuesday, September 9.

About
Cambridge-Somerville for Change is an all-volunteer community group dedicated to harnessing the grassroots energy and spirit of change inspired by the Obama campaign. Our organizing work includes electoral and issue-based campaigns at the local, state, and national level. Our members have chosen to work on promoting economic fairness, comprehensive health care reform, creating policies that conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, provide for fair and adequate access to public transportation, and promoting in-state tuition for immigrant youth.
This is an organization built by and for you, the community, and we look forward to your participation and feedback. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions about getting involved, please email
